EYT gets lofted in Maya

‘Eyes on You, Tarantino’ gets a little physical on Maya. For Spatial Design class, I used E.Y.T data (my&Lucas’s eye data) to built the wall kind of thing below. I was expecting to have something more visually interesting. But putting this data into maya and just building a wall out of it didn’t bring very interesting output.. Gotta try harder..

The wall below is constructed by lofting two lines which shape the upper and lower zig-zag of the wall. Upper line refers to my eye movements on time axis, and lower line refers to Lucas’s eye on the same movie scene - Hitchcock “Rear Window”

‘these are big screens, not delayed screens!’

Here is my first date with actual six screens. In the videos below, you can see the simple application we come up in 2 hours with Robert Moon. The videos attached side-by-side are moving left/right with the speed defined by the position of the mouse. The outcome looks amazing, and we are going to use this for a train scene; first, the videos move so fast, it looks like a regular train moving, then it slows down and we focus on cars of the train individually. Audio has more volume in the conversation in the car that is in the middle of the screen, but you can also hear the rest at some volume. But big big problems:

  • sync problem; MPE couldn’t sync the videos that well.. You can see that two screen (two different machines) are out of sync in the timing of the video.
  • memory error; we got these memory errors over and over… I couldn’t find the photo that I shot, but I will post them as soon as possible

E.Y.T is looking for some inspiration

I found this website via infostethics.com.

It has very nice sculptural visualizations of interesting massive data. I was definitely thinking of such a sculptural piece as an outcome for E.Y.T. But feels like there is something missing….

Addition: also a link from the same site, a very good piece.

links for user generated content; which has some focus at least

Here are the links I have found for user generated class assignment: ‘find samples of content which focuses on 1. audience 2. community of Practice 3. Personal&friends
